Around 140 schools in Sydney Region have their Windows fileservers managed by the Sydney Region IT Services Unit. These ASI servers are now up to 3 years old. Sydney Region has negotiated bulk-pricing with ASI to offer schools three useful and practical upgrade options for their servers to:
ASI Upgrade Kit #1 - Increases the storage capacity of the school's main (4-unit) server from 60GB to 310GB by the internal installation of two mirrored 250GB hard disk drives. This kit is essential for schools who are finding their disk storage space is running out due to the need to keep all of the large amount of data they have. The additional 250GB is perfect for storing the masses of photos and videos that schools tend to accumulate and share without overfilling the main data storage areas for students and staff. ASI Upgrade Kit #2 - The basic backup system included in the 4-unit ASI fileserver is a 35GB REV removable hard disk system with 5 removable disks. The problem with this backup is once your used data storage on the server exceeds 35GB, these disks are no longer capable of backing up ALL of your changing data after the disk becomes full. This means that some of the school's files are not being backed up, and in the case of a server disaster, important data files may be lost. To overcome this, an alternate backup process is recommended which uses 3 x 160GB USB External Hard Disks. These disks then replace the REV backup process and allow for a 3-week backup cycle to occur. ASI Upgrade Kit #3 - A One- Year Extended warranty. If the school opts for either of the two kits above, we believe the server will be useful to the school beyond the standard 4 year on-site warranty. This option will provide an extra year's on-site warranty covering parts and labour for any hardware maintenance that may be required during the fifth year. This kit does not have to be purchased now, but must be purchased prior to your 4-year warranty expiring if an additional year is desired. All pricing and ordering details can be found here.
