Also conducted six hands-on training courses on STEMS for high school year advisors and executive staff with over 70 school staff attending Arranged a successful trial of The SMS Engine in four schools to provide affordable SMS communications. 30 more schools joined the trial which allowed for quick and easy SMS alerts to parents covering school attendance, lateness, sick bay notifications, overdue library books and more. Response times for service requests greatly improved throughout 2007 Design and ongoing management of the Sydney Region Internet and Intranet websites, including content contribution from all Regional consultancy areas Design and ongoing management of the School IT Support Website and Forum. The ICT Support Forum now contains 2625 Posts in 690 Topics by 425 Members and has become a growing valuable resource unique to Sydney Region Successful installation of OASIS Thin Client in every Sydney Region school before the end of Term 3 - including supply and installation of 866 new computers and 80 recycled computers for OASIS Installation of over 2,134 T4L Lenovo and Acer computers into Sydney Region schools Redistributed 605 ex-TAFE computers into schools Completed final cutover to the new NSWDET Internet Browsing and Email solution in all schools Installation of CPC servers into all schools Assisted 61 schools with cabling, wireless and network upgrades Coordination of TechKnow Tours for both Primary and High Schools to foster the sharing of ideas
Some of these functions are statewide activities run by every region, but most are Sydney Region initiatives. Many thanks to the Regional IT Manager, Steve O'Regan and the whole Region IT School Support Team for a great effort. We look forward to new and exciting projects in 2008.
