IMPORTANT NOTICES
Logging out of Portal and Network –
please make all staff aware of this item

A number of reports have been received that staff members are walking away from their computers, leaving them logged onto curriculum servers and/or the Portal/Internet.
There are major security risks, such as others:
• accessing and sending email from your account – users are responsible for all emails sent from their account
• accessing SBSR and changing report assessments
• accessing Employee Self Service (ESS) and applying for leave on your behalf and finding your pay details
• having access to staff internet browsing filters rather than student filters.
• having access to Account Administration – changing passwords and applying for blocking/unblocking sites
It is extremely important for staff to log out of their Portal and close all browser windows and log out of the curriculum server when leaving computers unattended.

OASIS Enhancements to Assist Administration Staff
Advice was published for all schools in last Friday’s InPrincipal, advising of important changes being
made to OASIS that have implications for the management of student e-learning accounts. These
changes include:
•  Student e-learning accounts and parental consent
From 15 October, 2007, the parent consent field for a student e-learning account will be set to ‘Y’ (for ‘yes’) by default. Administrators will not need to adjust this field manually.
•  Enrolling prospective students
From the 15 October, 2007, the OASIS pre-enrolment module will have a new feature that allows invoices to be generated for pre-enrolled students. This means that administration staff can now assign pre-enrolment payments to the correct accounting grade.
This information can be found under the heading of ‘School Management’ in Friday’s 13 August edition
of InPrincpal.
A copy of this Memorandum has also be published on Schools Support Documentation (Intranet) page of the Internet and Email support site (Intranet).

OPERATIONAL NOTICES
Authentication Tip

When browsing the internet in the AIBE environment, some users experience frustration when prompted to authenticate multiple times. It is often the case that users are being prompted for their login details because they have opened a new browsing session or multiple browsing sessions by clicking on the Explorer icon. New browsing sessions can also opened when a user does a ‘copy’n’paste’ from a website into a Word document. Users can avoid having to re-authenticate by opening new browsing windows rather than new sessions. Opening a new browsing window in an existing browsing session is accomplished by selecting ‘File’ and then selecting ‘New’ - ‘Window’. The shortcut ‘Ctrl’+ ‘N’ will also open a new browsing window in an existing session. Users are not required to re authenticate when a new browsing window is opened. (Note: Internet Explorer or Firefox must be the active application at the time of using the shortcut.) Doing a ‘copy’n’paste’ from a website into Microsoft Word or a similar program prompts the browser to open a new browsing session in order to retrieve content from the website, that a user wishes to paste into the Word document . This behaviour is consistent with the system design to prompt a user to authenticate each time a new browsing session is opened.

Here you will find five different graphs and charts for you to consider. Graphs and charts are great because they communicate information visually.
